Well this has to be just about the cutest thing ever.  My girl was invited to her first school dance.  She's in the seventh grade, and the most awkward little boy asked her to go.  He was so nervous when he asked her, it was just adorable.   Naturally, my girl wanted to look really good for the party, but she didn't want to look formal.  So many of friends were wearing super fancy gowns.  That's just not her personality, not to mention, those dresses looked very uncomfortable.  She wanted to look chic and dressy, but also fun and funky, which is my girl's personality.  So we did a search online to come up with some styles, and we landed on a girls maxi dress that I read about here.  Maxi dresses are a hippie fashion from the 70s, but they've been updated with fresh prints to make it look more current.  To tell you the truth, they're very much in style and on trend.

When my daughter wore the maxi dress to the big event, she turned quite a few heads.  Seriously, she was just stunning in it.  But what I liked most about this maxi is how it made my child feel beautiful on the inside.  The smile on her face was priceless.   I took a bunch of pictures which will undoubtedly be a source of embarrassment when she gets older.   Too bad, that's my right as a mother.  They're going straight up on the fridge for as long as I want them there!

I should give a shout out to the really cool company that makes these maxi dresses for girls.  It's called TwirlyGirl, and all of their dresses are manufactured in the US of A.  They have a beautiful assortment of dresses, skirts, tops and leggings.  And all of them are super unique, with an eye towards making a girl feel empowered by her sense of style and individuality.  This certainly is not your standard off the rack clothing you find in big box stores.  These dresses are special, but are soft and comfortable enough to wear on a daily basis.  Plus, they are well sewn so that they don't require any special care or attention.  No need for dry cleaning.  Just toss them in the washer and dryer, and that's it.  I can't say enough about these dresses.

Please check out TwirlyGirl's line of maxi dresses for girls, as well as their other clothing items.  It really is a special line.  Here's a link for you.
