My daughter is in the sixth grade, and attends a very strict Catholic school.  The teachers there, some of them nuns, don't take kindly to funny business.  But that's ok, because to be honest, my girl needs a little more disciple.  Things have gone to hell in a hand basket since her father moved in with his "house mate" Phillip.  Lots of funny business goin' on there, and I don't mean funny or business in the literal sense.  So that's why I sent her to this school, to learn a little more about Christian values.  One of her first assignments was to do a report in Geography.   She could choose any nation or city on the map, as long as she did a comprehensive study of their population, economy, language, history, etc.  My girl chose to study the Island of Capri.  Why?  Because in her mind, they are responsible for her favorite article of clothing.  Namely girls capri leggings (example A.)  Leggings had long been a staple item in her wardrobe before transferring to this school.  They have a dress code here, and capri leggings is most certainly not on the list.  But back at her old institution of learning, my girl would wear them every day.

The girl was like Little Bo Peep with those Capri Leggings.  Everywhere she went, the capris were sure to follow.  LOL!  But not to Sacred Heart, no siree.  Those sisters would not tolerate that at all.  The first thing they did was make her exchange them for a short skirt.  My girl tried to explain that she could wear the leggings under the skirt.  In fact, that's how they were supposed to be worn.  To add warmth and modesty to any outfit. But the class leaders weren't buying it.  The leggings that my girl liked to wear were way too funky for their conservative tastes.  They were not plain and boring at all.  To the contrary, they were very fun and upbeat.  She bought them at her favorite online store called TwirlyGirl.  She found them after performing a search for "Capri leggings for girls" and the site with the best selection of wacky and mismatched leggings was TwirlyGirl.  She instantly became a fan, and hoped to win over the principal by directing them to their site.  My girl really tried a hard sell.  I gotta give her credit.  She said that TwirlyGirl is manufactured in the USA, and buy wearing these capri leggings to school, she was supporting her nation.  No dice, though.  And that's why she tried doing a report on Capri.  It was her simple way of acting out and it really backfired because they gave her a C.  They wanted to give her a D, but even they had to admit that the report on capri leggings for girls was really thorough.  So much so, they admired her effort even if they had to punish her.

So now she is stuck to wearing girls capri leggings only on the weekends and holidays.  That's ok.  She understands where they're coming from.  They need uniformity and conformity.  She can get her creative ya-yas out on downtime.  But here's a link to TwirlyGirl if your child wants to load up on Capri's.  Shop here.  You'll be honoring my daughter's terrific spirit.  I know she'll appreciate it!

Things Go Awry when daughter's geography report is on Capri Leggings
